Story

Ramazanoğlu Mosque, located in the center of Adana, is a deeply rooted structure built during the Ramazanoğulları Beylik period. Although its exact construction date is not precisely known, it is dated to the late 15th or early 16th century. Built during the reign of the Ramazanoğulları Beylik in Adana, this mosque became one of the political and cultural centers of the region. It is rumored that the mosque was built by Ramazanoğlu Halil Bey. With the Ottoman Empire's dominance in the region, it maintained its importance and continued to serve as a significant place of worship for the Muslim population in the area. Architecturally, it was built in accordance with the classical Ottoman mosque plan. It stands out with its single-domed, square-planned prayer hall and a three-sectioned narthex. Entry to the mosque is provided through the mihrab-adorned door in the middle of the narthex. The interior features a simple yet impressive decorative style. The mihrab and minbar showcase examples of traditional stone craftsmanship of the period. Especially noteworthy are the carved details of the minbar and the stalactite decorations in the niche of the mihrab. The exterior of the mosque is made of cut stone and has a robust appearance.
