The Gedik Ahmet Pasha Imaret Mosque is part of a külliye (complex) built between 1472 and 1477 by Gedik Ahmet Pasha, one of the prominent statesmen of the Ottoman Empire, located in the center of Afyonkarahisar. This complex, consisting of a mosque, imaret (soup kitchen), madrasa (religious school), and hammam (bathhouse), played a central role in the social and religious life of its era. Its architecture bears the characteristic features of early Ottoman architecture; it stands out with its single-domed, square-plan prayer hall and two-balconied minaret. The lead covering on the exterior of the dome is one of the details that enhance the structure's grandeur. The interior of the mosque possesses a simple beauty; the mihrab (prayer niche) and minbar (pulpit) are notable for their stone craftsmanship. Especially the muqarnas filling of the mihrab niche and its decoration with floral motifs reflect the aesthetic understanding of the period.
