Doğubeyazıt Castle is situated on a steep hill in the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı province, very close to Ishak Pasha Palace. This geographical location has ensured the castle's strategic importance throughout history. Although there is no definitive information about the castle's initial construction, considering the region's historical intensity, it is believed to have a history dating back to the Urartian period. In later periods, it came under the rule of many civilizations such as the Persians, Romans, Byzantines, Seljuks, Ilkhanids, Kara Koyunlu, Ak Koyunlu, and Ottomans, and was strengthened with various repairs and additions in each era. The surviving remains of the castle generally bear traces from the Ottoman period, but also exhibit a structure where different architectural styles are blended. The castle's location, being on the historical Silk Road, also held great commercial and military importance.
