Story
Ishak Pasha Palace is a palace from the Ottoman Empire period, located near the village of Yukarıtavla, in the Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı. Believed to have been built in the late 17th and early 18th centuries, this structure incorporates elements of Seljuk, Persian, and Caucasian architecture, in addition to Ottoman architecture. It is rumored that the construction of the palace was started by Çolak Abdi Pasha and completed by his son Ishak Pasha and grandson Mehmet Pasha. The construction period, said to have lasted approximately 99 years, is not surprising given the size of the structure and its detailed craftsmanship. The palace is a complex (külliye) and houses many sections such as a mosque, tomb, walls, courtyards, divan rooms, harem quarters, dungeons, kitchens, and a hammam. Especially the stone masonry on the doors and windows, geometric patterns, and floral motifs reveal the artistic understanding and mastery of the period. The palace's heating system was designed to operate with a central system, which was an indication of highly advanced technology for that era.
