Amasya Castle is one of the symbolic structures of Amasya, a city established on the banks of the Yeşilırmak River in the inner Black Sea Region. Built on the steep rocks of Mount Harşena, rising north of the city, this castle has held great importance throughout history due to its strategic location. Its initial foundations are thought to have been laid during the Pontus Kingdom in the 3rd century BC, and the castle was actively used during the Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk, and Ottoman periods, bearing the traces of each civilization.
