Located in the center of Amasya, the Hz. Omar Mosque is one of the important religious structures that bear witness to the city's deep-rooted history. Although there is no clear information about the exact construction date and founder of the mosque, it is believed to be one of the Ottoman period works. It is highly probable that it was built as part of the Islamization process in the region after the conquest of Amasya, or an existing structure was converted into a mosque.
