Story

Ziyagil Mansion is one of the finest examples of Ottoman civil architecture, located among the historical Yalıboyu houses of Amasya. Situated on the banks of the Yeşilırmak River, intertwined with the city's natural beauty, this mansion is an important part of the region's cultural heritage. Although the exact construction date of the building is unknown, considering its architectural features and the general mansion-building tradition of the period, it is thought to date back to the late 19th or early 20th century. The mansion's architecture bears the characteristic features of traditional Amasya houses; the use of timber frames with adobe infill or brick, bay windows, wide eaves, and an inner courtyard layout are noteworthy. Especially the wooden craftsmanship and wrought-iron details on its exterior facade reflect the aesthetic understanding of the period. Inside, ceiling decorations, wooden carvings, and niches demonstrate the mansion's richness and the importance its owners placed on art. Today, Ziyagil Mansion has been restored and opened to tourism, generally serving as a boutique hotel or museum house. Visitors can breathe in the atmosphere of the past while wandering through the mansion's rooms and gain insight into traditional Turkish home life. The mansion's garden…
