Story
The Kar Yağdı Tomb is located in the Altındağ district of Ankara, close to the Hacı Bayram Mosque. Although the exact construction date of the structure is unknown, it is believed to be an Ottoman-era work, considering its general architectural features and its relationship with other historical structures in the vicinity. While there are different legends about who the tomb belongs to, it is believed among the public that the grave of a saint (evliya) is located here. This belief has made the tomb an important pilgrimage site, especially for the local people. The name of the tomb, 'Kar Yağdı' (Snow Fell), is associated with an event that occurred in the region; according to legend, this name was given when the saint passed away during a period when it snowed even in mid-summer.
