ODTU Eymir Lake Facilities
Description
ODTU Eymir Lake is an important natural area located south of Ankara, distinguished by its natural beauty and recreational opportunities.
Story
Eymir Lake is actually an alluvial dam lake, part of the İmrahor Valley, and has an underground connection with Mogan Lake, one of Ankara's important water sources. The lake and its surroundings were transferred to Middle East Technical University (ODTU) in 1956, and since then, they have been preserved and developed by the university and opened to public use. ODTU uses Eymir Lake as a laboratory area for scientific research and also offers a recreational area where Ankara residents can breathe. With the arrangements made around the lake, suitable tracks have been created for activities such as walking, running, and cycling. In addition, water sports such as rowing and canoeing can be done on the lake. Eymir Lake is a popular escape point for Ankara residents, especially on weekends and in good weather. The ecological balance of the lake is continuously monitored and tried to be preserved through studies carried out by ODTU. Eymir, which has a rich diversity in terms of its surrounding vegetation and bird species, is an important habitat where wildlife can be observed. The facilities around the lake offer food and beverage options to visitors, while also preserving the natural structure of the lake...
