The Ancient City of Neapolis is located west of Antalya, within the borders of the Konyaaltı district, near Çandır Village. Although mentioned in ancient sources, the exact location of Neapolis remained unknown for a long time. Research has now determined its location in this region. While the exact founding date of the city is unknown, archaeological findings and architectural remains suggest that it was inhabited from the Hellenistic period onwards. It particularly flourished during the Roman Empire, becoming an important center. The city's strategic location, at the crossroads between the Lycian and Pamphylian regions, increased its commercial and military significance. Surface surveys and limited excavation work in Neapolis have revealed remains of public buildings such as temples, theaters, agoras, and baths, as well as traces of residential structures. It has been observed that the city was surrounded by walls, some of which have survived to the present day. Additionally, necropolis areas are found around the city. It is believed that Neapolis continued to exist during the Byzantine period but gradually lost its importance and was abandoned.
