Located west of Antalya, Beydağları Coastal National Park is a vast protected area boasting the unique natural beauty of the Mediterranean.
Story
Beydağları Coastal National Park gained national park status in 1972 and covers a wide coastal strip starting from Kemer district of Antalya and extending to Finike, as well as mountainous areas in the interior. The park takes its name from the Beydağları, the western extension of the Taurus Mountains. Due to its geological structure, this region consists of limestone terrains, which has led to the formation of many caves, canyons, and karstic features of various sizes. In addition to its natural beauty, it offers historical and cultural richness, particularly by hosting the ruins of ancient cities such as Olympos, Phaselis, and Çıralı. The park's vegetation bears the typical characteristics of the Mediterranean climate; red pine forests, maquis shrublands, and endemic plant species are widespread. It is also vitally important for significant species such as the endangered Mediterranean monk seals and Caretta Caretta sea turtles. Especially the beaches of Çıralı and Adrasan are known as nesting areas for Caretta Caretta turtles and are therefore under special protection. Visit Tips
- Don't forget to visit the ancient cities (Olympos, Phaselis) located within the national park.
- Experience the unique view by visiting Yanartaş (Chimera) especially in the evening.
- If you are visiting Çıralı beaches during the nesting period of Caretta Caretta turtles (May-September), be careful not to harm the nests.
- Explore suitable trails for nature walks and trekking; a part of the Lycian Way passes through this park.
- For sea and beach enjoyment, you can choose beaches in areas like Adrasan, Çıralı, or Tekirova.
