Story

Beymelek Lagoon is a delicate ecosystem formed by the combination of fresh and saltwater. For centuries, the lagoon area has been a center for fishing, particularly for species such as sea bream and mullet, which thrive naturally here. The lagoon is also an important stopover for migratory birds; flamingos, herons, and many other species can be seen here at different times of the year. The small fishermen's houses and boats around the lagoon add an authentic look to the area. The sight of boats gliding over the water in the early morning hours, along with the reflections created by the first rays of the sun, is quite impressive. In recent years, ecotourism activities in the region have increased, with small restaurants and viewing points opening up. Nevertheless, the lagoon still largely maintains its natural character. Being one of the rare areas where wildlife can be observed so closely makes Beymelek one of Antalya's hidden paradises.
