Story

Damlataş Cave is a unique natural formation that was accidentally discovered during port construction in 1948. The cave is notable for its high humidity level (around 90%) and stable temperature (approximately 22–23°C). Due to these characteristics, it is believed to be a source of healing, especially for asthma patients, and has been visited for health purposes for many years. Its formation is the result of a process spanning thousands of years; the stalactites and stalagmites inside are classic examples of dripstone accumulations. The cave's name derives from this. Upon entering, you are greeted by a strong scent of humidity and a slight feeling of warmth. According to visitors, the air inside the cave is quite heavy but carries a density that makes breathing easier. The opening of Damlataş to tourism has marked a turning point in Alanya's tourism history. According to legends, when the cave was discovered, local fishermen used it as a secret refuge, but once it was revealed during municipal works, it was quickly opened to tourism. Today, access is quite easy as there is a beach and a coastal walking path right next to the cave. The colorful lighting inside makes the natural formations more pronounced. The tranquil atmosphere, the gentle sound of dripping water, and the natural stone formations make the cave unique.
