Manavgat Waterfall is one of the most popular natural beauties located in the Manavgat district, east of Antalya, known for its powerful water flow cascading over a wide surface. This waterfall, formed by the clear waters of the Manavgat River, which originates from the Taurus Mountains, has become a spot for both cooling off and spending time in nature in the Mediterranean region. Although the height of the waterfall is not very great, its width and the waterfall-like flow of the water give it a unique visual power. Since the mid-20th century, the area around the waterfall has been organized as a picnic and recreation area, and today it has transformed into a complete recreational zone with walking paths, viewing terraces, tea gardens, and resting areas. The historical significance of Manavgat Waterfall is related to the impact of the region's water resources on agriculture and settlement. Some rock cavities and remnants of ancient water mills found around the waterfall indicate that this area was actively used by people in the past. According to an old local legend, a Yörük tribe living near the waterfall would pray to avoid damage when the river overflowed, which is why it is said that small traditional rituals known as 'water prayers' are performed among the people. Today, the area around the waterfall is one of the most preferred stops for tourists and photographers looking to cool off, especially in the summer months. The strong sound of the water and the melody of the surrounding birds make the region a peaceful and tranquil getaway. Particularly in the morning hours, the light falling on the water surface creates bright and vibrant tones in photographs.
