Murat Pasha Mosque is an important Ottoman-era monument located in the Muratpaşa district, in the center of Antalya. The mosque was built in 1570 during the reign of Selim II by Kuyucu Murat Pasha, one of the prominent statesmen and viziers of the region. The structure is one of the beautiful examples of classical Ottoman architecture and is constructed from cut stone. The mosque's architecture features a single-domed central plan, with the dome resting on the square-planned harim walls via pendentives. The minaret of the mosque has a single balcony (şerefe) and possesses a very elegant appearance. Inside, the craftsmanship of the mihrab and minbar is noteworthy. The mihrab dazzles with its marble carvings, and the minbar with its wooden carvings. In the courtyard of the mosque, there is a fountain and some Ottoman-era tombs. Although it has undergone various repairs over time, it has largely managed to preserve its original architectural features. Murat Pasha Mosque is an important part of Antalya's historical and cultural fabric and is still open for worship today.
