Ormana House (Ormana Village)
Description
It is a historical Yörük village where buttoned houses are densely located and the cultural texture is preserved.
Story
Ormana Village, which is affiliated with the İbradı district, is one of the most unique cultural heritage sites hidden in the slopes of the Taurus Mountains. The village evokes a sense of timelessness with its buttoned houses, traditional Yörük lifestyle, narrow streets, and natural surroundings. The dense presence of buttoned houses has made Ormana the center of this architectural tradition. The majority of the houses are nearly 300 years old and were built by interlocking stone and wood without the use of mortar. This technique reflects the region's tradition of earthquake-resistant construction. The history of Ormana is not limited to its architecture. It is an important settlement where some of the oldest Yörük tribes in Anatolia once resided. The villagers still carry traces of traditional Yörük culture; the music played at weddings, local dishes, and handcrafted products are all part of this culture. According to a story told by the locals, Ormana is a place where a tribe that migrated from east to west stayed for a long time and eventually decided to settle. For this reason, the village is named Ormana, which means "those who made the forest their home." Most of the houses in the village have been restored and transformed into boutique hotels, boutique guesthouses, or cultural houses. While walking through the narrow streets of Ormana in the morning hours, the faint scents emanating from the stone walls and wooden beams reflect the village's centuries-old atmosphere. Visitors during the day can participate in horseback safari tours, cave explorations, or hiking trails. Due to its proximity to the Altınbeşik Cave and Eynif Plain, it is an ideal base for nature enthusiasts. Ormana Village is one of the rare places that must be visited for those who wish to understand the cultural identity of Antalya.
