Zeytintaşı Cave is located within the borders of Akbaş Village, in the Serik district of Antalya. The cave was discovered by chance in 1997 during quarrying operations. Following its discovery, investigations revealed that the cave holds significant geological and geomorphological importance. The cave consists of two main levels and has a total length of approximately 54 meters. The stalactites, stalagmites, dripstone pools, and columns within it have formed as a result of thousands of years of natural processes. Particularly noteworthy are the thin and long stalactites known as 'spaghetti stalactites,' which are one of the most striking features of the cave. These stalactites form very slowly due to a low drip rate and mineral accumulation, and they are extremely delicate structures. The temperature inside the cave remains constant at approximately 18-20 degrees Celsius throughout the year, while the humidity is quite high. Zeytintaşı Cave was declared a Natural Monument in 2002 and placed under protection.
