Hidden in the mountainous terrain of Çine district in Aydın, near the villages of Gürice and Doğanyurt, Gerga Ancient City is one of the important heritage sites of the Carian region awaiting discovery. This ancient settlement was inhabited from the Hellenistic period onwards and continued its existence through the Roman and Byzantine eras. Although Gerga was not among the major Carian cities, it stands out with its unique architecture, especially its monumental tombs.
