The Mastaura Amphitheater is located within the borders of Bozyurt Neighborhood, Nazilli district, Aydın province. This amphitheater, one of the important structures of the ancient city of Mastaura, dates back to the Roman Imperial Period. The construction and use of the structure coincide with the 2nd and 3rd centuries AD, when the region was under Roman rule. Mastaura was an ancient city established in a strategic location in the Büyük Menderes River valley, developed through agriculture and trade. The amphitheater played a central role in the social and cultural life of the city, hosting gladiatorial contests, wild animal hunts, and other public spectacles. The architecture of the structure bears the typical features of Roman amphitheaters; it consists of an elliptical arena and surrounding seating rows (cavea). The seating rows were built leaning against a natural slope, thus forming a solid foundation. The capacity of the theater is estimated to have been large enough to accommodate thousands of spectators in ancient times.
