Balıkesir Martyrs' Cemetery is the eternal resting place for our soldiers and security forces who have fallen as martyrs in the defense of the homeland, from the establishment of the Republic of Turkey to the present day. The cemetery is located in the city center of Balıkesir, at the foothills of Çamlık Hill. It was first organized as a memorial cemetery for soldiers who fell during the War of Independence. After the proclamation of the Republic, its status as a martyrs' cemetery was maintained and expanded.
