The Bilecik Clock Tower is an important historical structure located in the Hürriyet neighborhood, in the center of the city. It is known to have been built in 1907, during the reign of Abdülhamid II. The order for the tower's construction was given by Musa Kazım Bey, the then Mutasarrıf (governor) of Bilecik. In the late Ottoman Empire, especially in commemoration of the 25th anniversary of Abdülhamid II's ascension to the throne, many clock towers were built throughout the empire. The Bilecik Clock Tower emerged as part of this tradition. The structure is built of cut stone, has a square plan, and features a four-story architecture. Each facade has a clock face, and these clocks are positioned to be visible from all parts of the city. The upper part of the tower houses a section for bells, topped by a pointed spire. Its architectural style carries the general characteristics of Ottoman-era clock towers, offering a robust and aesthetic appearance.
