Story
Kurtköy Dam is located in the Kurtköy district of Bilecik province, on the Karaçay Stream. This dam, designed and constructed by the State Hydraulic Works (DSİ), was put into service to meet the agricultural irrigation needs of the region and to prevent floods. Construction of the dam began in the late 1990s and was completed and opened for operation in the early 2000s. The primary purpose of Kurtköy Dam is to provide water to agricultural lands, and it also undertakes the task of protecting surrounding settlements from potential flood disasters. Built as a rock-fill dam with a clay core, the dam was designed using modern engineering techniques. Its body volume and storage capacity are sufficient to meet the water needs of the region. The dam lake has also created a habitat for the surrounding wildlife, becoming an important living area for bird species and other wild animals. During its construction, it made significant contributions to the economic development of the region, increasing agricultural productivity and raising farmers' income levels. Kurtköy Dam is a completely man-made modern engineering marvel and not a natural formation. There are picnic areas around it...
