Nemrut Crater Lake is a crater lake formed at the summit of Mount Nemrut, located within the borders of the Tatvan district of Bitlis province in the Eastern Anatolia Region. Mount Nemrut is a volcanic mountain whose summit collapsed as a result of a large eruption approximately 250,000 years ago, and this depression gradually filled with water over time, forming the crater lake. The lake is located approximately 2,247 meters above sea level and holds the distinction of being Turkey's largest crater lake. The area around the lake is notable for its rich biodiversity, hosting many endemic plant species and wildlife. It is an important stop, especially for birdwatchers. The lake's water is fresh, and there are also small islands and thermal springs around it. These thermal springs cause the water temperature in some parts of the lake to be higher than in other areas.
