Bursa Mevlevihane was established as one of the important centers of the Mevlevi order in Bursa, the first capital of the Ottoman Empire. Although there are different views regarding the exact date of its establishment, it is generally dated to the late 15th or early 16th century. From its inception, Bursa Mevlevihane played a significant role in the cultural and religious life of the city. It became a center where Mevlevi dervishes performed sema rituals, provided Sufi education, and lived in close interaction with the public. The structure underwent various repairs and additions over time. The architecture of the Mevlevihane exhibits typical features of Ottoman tekke architecture, consisting of sections such as the semahane (ritual hall), dervish cells, kitchen, and shaykh's quarters. With the closure of tekkes and zaviyes in 1925, the Mevlevihane also lost its function and remained idle for many years. However, thanks to extensive restoration efforts in recent years, it has been brought back to life.
