Ertuğrul Bey Mosque is located in the Osmangazi district of Bursa, near the Yıldırım Bayezid Complex. Although there are different views regarding the exact construction date and patron of the mosque, the generally accepted view is that the mosque was built during the reign of Yıldırım Bayezid or earlier, in the name of Ertuğrul Bey. Although some sources suggest that the mosque is associated with Ertuğrul Bey, the father of Ertuğrul Gazi and the founder of the Ottoman Empire, this information is not fully supported by historical documents. The architecture of the mosque bears the characteristics of early Ottoman mosque architecture. It has a single-domed, square-plan structure. The minaret of the mosque was generally built separately from the main structure of the mosque and has undergone various repairs over time. The structure reflects the simple and functional understanding of religious architecture during the founding period of the Ottoman Empire. Traces of period pen-work decorations can be seen in the interior of the mosque. The mosque, which has been affected by natural disasters such as various earthquakes and fires throughout its history, has been repaired many times.
