Story
Gemlik Coast is a natural coastline stretching along the southern shore of the Marmara Sea in the Gemlik district of Bursa. Throughout history, Gemlik has hosted many civilizations thanks to its strategic location and fertile lands. Known as Kios in ancient times, this region was colonized by the Milesians in the 12th century BC and became an important port city. Gemlik maintained its importance during the Roman and Byzantine periods and became a vibrant center for trade and agriculture during the Ottoman Empire. The coastline, as part of this rich history, has witnessed settlement and commercial activities for centuries. Today, Gemlik Coast has been opened to public use with modern arrangements, equipped with walking paths, parks, cafes, and restaurants. This area, stretching along the coast, becomes a popular destination for local and foreign tourists, especially in the summer months.
