The Historical Pirinç Han is located in the heart of Bursa, close to the Orhan Gazi Mosque and the Grand Bazaar. It was built in the late 15th century, during the reign of Bayezid II, by Yakup Pasha, one of the prominent statesmen and architects of that period. The han (caravanserai) takes its name from the intensive rice trade that took place here at the time. Hans, which held an important place in the economic and commercial life of the Ottoman Empire, were centers where caravans stayed, goods were stored, and trade was conducted. Pirinç Han successfully fulfilled these functions, becoming a vibrant trade center by utilizing Bursa's strategic location on the Silk Road. The structure has a two-story plan with a courtyard. Its spacious courtyard, surrounding shops, and upper-floor rooms reflect typical Ottoman han architecture. Over time, it has been used for various functions and has undergone several restorations.
