Story
Ilıpınar Mound is considered one of the most important Neolithic settlements in the Marmara Region, with a history dating back approximately 8,500 years, to around 6400 BCE. The mound was first introduced to the scientific world through excavations initiated by the Netherlands Institute in Istanbul in 1987. These excavations provided invaluable information about the lifestyles, architectural structures, and cultural characteristics of the region during the Neolithic and Chalcolithic periods. Research conducted at Ilıpınar Mound indicates that agriculture and animal husbandry were well-developed in the region during the Early Neolithic period, and sedentary life was maintained in a highly organized manner.
