The ancient city of Alexandria Troas is located within the borders of the Ezine district of Çanakkale, near the village of Dalyan. The ancient city was founded in 310 BC by Antigonus Monophthalmus, one of Alexander the Great's commanders, and was initially named Antigoneia. Later, Lysimachus, one of Alexander the Great's successors, gave the city the name Alexandria Troas.
