The Ancient City of Troy, located in Ezine district of Çanakkale, is one of the most famous and historically significant ancient cities of Anatolia. Dating back to the Bronze Age, Troy has hosted many civilizations and is especially known as the site of the Trojan War described in Homer's Iliad. The city’s archaeological layers provide insights into various periods of history. Troy, with settlements dating to around 3000 BC, has been destroyed and rebuilt multiple times throughout history. Today, remains of city walls, temples, houses, and other structures are open to visitors as archaeological sites. Excavations began in the 19th century under Heinrich Schliemann, bringing Troy international recognition. Visitors can enjoy walking through the ancient city and gaining visual and structural understanding of life in that era. Troy holds significant cultural value for Turkey and is listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
