Story
The Cigerci Baba Tomb is located in the Kilidülbahir town of Çanakkale, right next to the historical Kilidülbahir Castle. The tomb is dedicated to a saint known as Cigerci Baba, who is highly respected by the local people. Although it is difficult to find definitive information about the identity and life of Cigerci Baba, according to local legends, he was a figure who lived during the Ottoman period and made significant contributions to the spiritual life of the region. Especially during and after the Çanakkale Wars, the tomb is known to have been a point of morale and spiritual support for the local people. The architecture of the tomb is simple, generally built with a rectangular plan and covered with a dome or roof. Inside, there is a sarcophagus believed to belong to Cigerci Baba. Although the tomb has undergone repair and restoration work from time to time, it has largely preserved its original texture. Visitors, especially on religious holidays and special days, visit the tomb to pray and recite Fatiha for the soul of Cigerci Baba. The location of the tomb also overlooks the unique view of the Dardanelles, offering visitors both a spiritual experience and a visual feast.
