Story
Çivitçioğlu Madrasa is one of the important structures that form the historical fabric of Çankırı. Although the exact construction date of the building is unknown, considering its architectural features and the general construction trends of the period, it is believed to date back to the Ottoman period, specifically the 16th or 17th century. The madrasa takes its name from the Çivitçioğlu family, its founders. This family was known as a prominent, philanthropic, and science-supporting family in Çankırı at that time. The madrasa played an important role in the education system of its era, contributing to the spread of knowledge and wisdom. The structure is built of cut stone and bears the characteristics of typical Ottoman madrasa architecture. However, it is understood from the remaining sections that it had basic units such as classrooms and student rooms. The madrasa was used for various functions over time, sometimes falling into disrepair, but recent restoration efforts have attempted to revive it. Gü...
