Kasım Bey Madrasa is located in the city center of Çankırı, southwest of Çankırı Castle, adjacent to the structure currently known as Taş Mescit (Stone Mosque). Although there is no definitive information about the construction date and its founder, it is dated to the late 13th or early 14th century based on its architectural style and materials used. While some sources state that the founder of the structure was Kasım Bey, the Emir of Çankırı, this information has not yet been definitively proven. The madrasa exhibits typical features of Anatolian Seljuk architecture. Built from cut stone, the structure has a nearly square plan, with iwans opening to a central courtyard and student rooms surrounding it. The courtyard was once covered by a dome, which has since collapsed. One of the most striking features of the madrasa is its richly decorated monumental gate (taç kapı), adorned with geometric motifs, floral ornaments, and muqarnas. The madrasa continued its educational activities for a period during the Ottoman era but gradually lost its importance. The structure has undergone some changes from its original form due to repairs and additions, particularly those made in the 19th and early 20th centuries.
