Alaaddin Mosque, located in the center of Çorum, is one of the beautiful examples of Anatolian Seljuk architecture. Although the exact construction date of the mosque is unknown, it is dated to the early 13th century. Some sources state that the mosque takes its name from the Anatolian Seljuk Sultan Alaaddin Keykubat I, while others suggest that the founder of the mosque was Çorum Emir Alaaddin Keykubat. The architecture of the mosque bears the general characteristics of Seljuk period mosques. Built of cut stone, the mosque has a rectangular plan and consists of three naves parallel to the mihrab. The interior of the mosque has a simple and unpretentious structure, and its minbar, which contains beautiful examples of Seljuk period wood craftsmanship, is remarkable. The minbar is adorned with geometric motifs and floral decorations. The crown gate on the northern facade of the mosque has rich decorations reflecting the intricacies of Seljuk stone craftsmanship.
