Alacahöyük Museum is located in the Alaca district of Çorum and houses artifacts unearthed from Alacahöyük, one of Turkey's significant archaeological sites. Excavations at Alacahöyük began in 1907 by Theodor Makridi Bey and were systematically continued by the Turkish Historical Society in 1935, following the instructions of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk. The museum building was constructed in 1940 and opened to visitors in 1941. The artifacts displayed in the museum particularly reveal the rich cultural heritage of Alacahöyük, one of Anatolia's important centers before Hattusa, the capital of the Hittite Empire, spanning from prehistoric times to the Hittite, Phrygian, and Roman periods. Among the most striking exhibits in the museum are sun discs, deer sculptures, bull figures, and other valuable items made of gold, silver, and bronze, unearthed from royal tombs dating back to the Early Bronze Age (2500-2000 BCE). Additionally, Hittite reliefs, cuneiform tablets, ceramic vessels, and Phrygian fibulae (brooches) and ceramics also hold an important place in the museum.
