Koyunbaba Bridge is an important Ottoman architectural structure located on the Kızılırmak River in the Osmancık district of Çorum. It is known that the construction of the bridge began in 1402 by Yıldırım Bayezid, but was left unfinished due to the Battle of Ankara with Timur, and was later completed between 1489-1490 during the reign of Bayezid II. The bridge takes its name from the Koyunbaba Tomb located nearby. Built entirely of cut stone, the bridge is a total of 258 meters long and 7.5 meters wide. It was designed with nineteen arches, of which fifteen are visible today. It is thought that the other arches were filled in over time. The arches of the bridge are in pointed and depressed forms, and its piers are reinforced with cutwaters. Koyunbaba Bridge, which has a very solid and aesthetic architectural structure, has provided transportation over the Kızılırmak for centuries and has played an important role in the commercial and cultural life of the region. Still in use today, the bridge is a fine example of Ottoman engineering and architecture. Although the bridge has undergone various repairs over time, it has largely managed to preserve its original character.
