The Laçin Kapılıkaya Monumental Rock Tomb is located approximately 27 kilometers from the city center of Çorum, in the Kırkdilim area of the Laçin district. This monumental structure, dated to the Hellenistic Period (3rd century BCE), was carved out of a steep rock mass. The front facade of the tomb features a four-columned portico built in the Doric order. The columns are crowned with a triangular pediment. In the middle of the pediment, there is a Greek inscription indicating the identity of the deceased or the person who commissioned the tomb. It is believed that this inscription dedicates the tomb to one of the Gemini (Dioscuri) brothers or was commissioned by them. The reading and interpretation of the inscription provide important information about the cultural and religious beliefs of the period to which the tomb belongs. Inside the tomb, there are two klinai (stone beds) where the deceased were laid. The location of the rock tomb demonstrates the strategic importance of the Kırkdilim Pass and the density of settlements in the region during ancient times.
