Hacılar Ezanı Mosque is one of the important religious structures from the Ottoman period, located in the center of Edirne. Although there is no definitive information about the exact construction date and founder of the mosque, it is thought to date back to the 15th or 16th century, considering its architectural features and the general style of the period. It is one of the small neighborhood mosques built to meet the worship needs of the rapidly increasing Turkish-Islamic population in the city after the conquest of Edirne. The mosque generally has a single dome, a square plan, and simple architecture. Its minbar and mihrab contain details reflecting the traditional decorative arts of the period. Although it has undergone various renovations over time, it has largely preserved its original architectural structure. The name of the mosque may have come from the tradition of the neighborhood residents or pilgrims in the area calling the adhan (call to prayer).
