The Kara Ibrahim Pasha Bath is one of the important Ottoman-era structures located in the center of Edirne. Although precise information about the exact construction date and founder of the building is limited, it is generally believed to have been built towards the end of the 16th century or the beginning of the 17th century. This period coincides with one of the most brilliant times of Ottoman architecture, and baths played a central role in the social and cultural life of cities. There are also different views regarding the identity of Kara Ibrahim Pasha; some sources state that he was a statesman who lived during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent, while others attribute it to another Ibrahim Pasha who lived in later periods. The bath bears the characteristics of classical Ottoman bath architecture. It has a typical plan consisting of cold, lukewarm, and hot sections. It generally stands out with its domed structure, and its interiors were adorned with tile or pen work decorations in accordance with the aesthetic understanding of the period.
