The Macedonian Tower is a historical structure built as part of the old city walls in the center of Edirne. Constructed in the 2nd century AD during the reign of Roman Emperor Hadrian, this tower was an important element of Edirne's (then known as Hadrianopolis) defense system. Located right next to the city's western gate, the tower also served as a watchtower and a defensive point. Over time, the tower underwent various repairs and modifications, maintaining its importance during the Ottoman period. It is known that during the reign of Suleiman the Magnificent in the 16th century, some arrangements were made around the tower during the urban development activities in Edirne. The tower's name comes from its proximity to the gate opening to the Macedonian region, located west of Edirne. Today, only a portion of the tower's original height remains.
