The Edirne Old Train Station was built in 1873 as part of the Sirkeci-Edirne-Plovdiv-Sofia line. During the Ottoman Empire, especially within the framework of Abdülhamid II's railway policies, it became a strategically important transportation hub. The station building has an impressive structure that reflects the architectural features of its period, combining Neo-Classical and Orientalist elements. It stands out with its spacious waiting rooms, high ceilings, and detailed decorations. Due to Edirne's position as a gateway to the Balkans, the station was heavily used for both passenger and freight transport. It also served as one of the important logistical centers during World War I and the Turkish War of Independence. After the Treaty of Lausanne, the station remained within the borders of the Republic of Turkey and was actively used for many years. However, with the opening of the new train station in 1971, the Old Train Station's function for passenger transport ceased. After being idle for some time, the building was later transferred to Trakya University. Today, it serves as the Faculty of Fine Arts of Trakya University. Thanks to this transformation, the historical building has been preserved and given a cultural function.
