Saraçhane Bridge, located in the center of Edirne on the Tunca River, is one of the significant examples of Ottoman architecture. It is believed to have been built between 1426 and 1427 during the reign of Murad II. Although there is no definitive information about the architect of the bridge, it is estimated to have been built by one of the prominent architects of that period. The bridge has been one of Edirne's important transportation axes and played a key role in the city's development. At the time of its construction, it held strategic importance due to its location on one of the main routes connecting Edirne to the Balkans. Saraçhane Bridge is constructed from cut stones and has a twelve-arched structure. The arch spans and pier widths vary, indicating its adaptation to the topographical features of the ground where it was built. The bridge is approximately 120 meters long and over 5 meters wide. Despite being exposed to many floods and natural disasters over centuries, it has survived to the present day thanks to its robust structure. It has undergone repair and restoration work at various times. Especially in the 20th century, efforts were made to preserve the original structure of the bridge through restoration.
