Located in the central district of Edirne, Selimiye Mosque holds a very important place within Ottoman architecture. Built between 1568-1575 by Mimar Sinan, it is considered the pinnacle of Ottoman classical architecture. It stands out with its massive dome and four tall minarets. The mosque is renowned for its architectural harmony, aesthetic beauty, and advanced technical features. The interior impresses visitors with rich decorations, calligraphic works, and tiles. The dome demonstrates Mimar Sinan’s mastery with its large span and interior space. The surrounding area includes a spacious courtyard and historical structures.
