Cimşit Bey Bathhouse, located in the city center of Elazığ, is one of the important examples of Ottoman civil architecture. Although there is no definitive information about the exact construction date and patron of the building, it is thought to date back to the 16th or 17th century, considering its architectural features and the general construction style of the period. The bathhouse bears the characteristics of classical Ottoman bath architecture. Its plan, consisting of cold, lukewarm, and hot sections, reflects the functional and aesthetic understanding of the period. These sections, usually square or rectangular in plan, are covered with domes or vaults. Especially the navel stone and washing cells in the hot section reveal the original function of the bathhouse. The walls of the building are generally constructed using rubble stone and brick, with cut stone masonry visible in places. The lighting of the bathhouse is provided by small windows called 'fil gözü' (elephant's eye) in the domes. Having undergone various repairs over the centuries, Cimşit Bey Bathhouse has managed to survive to this day and has become an important part of Elazığ's cultural heritage.
