Located around Top Mountain and the Nene Hatun Historical National Park within the Yakutiye district of Erzurum, the Aziziye Fortifications are significant Ottoman defensive structures. During the 1877–1878 Ottoman-Russian War, they played a crucial role in the protection of the city, standing out with their strategic position and robust stone architecture. The civilian participation in the Aziziye resistance has an important place in the region’s historical memory.
