Kuzalan Nature Park
Description
Located in the Dereli district of Giresun, Kuzalan Nature Park is one of the region’s most important natural areas with its waterfall, travertines and the famous Blue Lake.
Story
Kuzalan Nature Park is a large protected area within the borders of Dereli district in Giresun and was designated as a nature park in 2013. Most of the park lies within Alancık village and Kuzalan neighbourhood and brings together some of the Black Sea region’s most striking landscapes, including Kuzalan Waterfall, Blue Lake and impressive travertine formations. Kuzalan Waterfall, located on the Taşpınar Stream, drops about 20 meters into the Aksu River and offers a spectacular view especially in late winter and spring when the water flow increases. In the park, the reddish tones created by iron-rich and sulphurous waters combine with white travertines, forming a unique scenery reminiscent of Pamukkale. Natural pools at the valley floor, travertine steps along the stream and dense forest cover enhance both the biodiversity and visual value of the area. The so-called Blue Lake, with its turquoise-like water, is one of the most popular spots in the park. Kuzalan Nature Park features walking trails, viewing terraces and picnic areas, allowing visitors to enjoy photography, hiking and day-trips all together. Thanks to its protection status, local flora and fauna have been relatively well preserved, making the park a key nature destination representing Giresun’s natural heritage.
