Story
Hacıllı Waterfall is a natural water formation located near Hacıllı village in Şile, and it is situated within one of Istanbul's most tranquil and natural hiking routes. The waterfall and its surroundings, with their extensive forest cover, waterways, rock formations, and natural ponds, are a favorite area for both nature hikers and campers. Access to the waterfall typically involves light trekking routes along the streambed. Hacıllı village has been a small settlement since the Byzantine era; the water sources in the region have been used throughout history for agriculture, animal husbandry, and powering small mills. The base of the valley where the waterfall is located has been shaped by the erosion of rocks by flowing water over thousands of years. For this reason, natural rock pools, small ponds, and streams are found in the area. Hacıllı Waterfall became more well-known with its discovery by outdoor sports communities starting in the 2000s. However, it has still managed to remain one of Istanbul's most untouched spots. The area is one of the most ideal places for camping, trekking, photography, river walks, and picnics. In spring, the waterfall appears much more impressive as its flow increases with meltwater. This area, with its preserved natural structure, is like a mini forest paradise for those who want to get away from the city.
