Description

It is a natural nature park located within Belgrade Forest, famous for its pond and walking paths.

Story

Irmak Nature Park is one of the calmest, most peaceful, and most natural corners of Belgrade Forest. The park takes its name from the stream bed and pond system within the forest. Organized as a nature park in the 2000s, this area has become one of the favorite routes for families and nature lovers with its walking trails and wide grassy areas. The natural life around the pond is quite rich. Ducks, turtles, water lilies, and a wide variety of bird species are frequently seen in the park. The fog rising over the pond in the early morning hours creates captivating shots for photographers. The vegetation in the park, similar to the general structure of Belgrade Forest, consists of oak, hornbeam, chestnut, and pine species. The history of Irmak Nature Park is linked to the Belgrade ecosystem. During the Ottoman period, this region was used as water routes and a forest control area; during the Republican period, it was opened to public interest with the picnic culture. However, the area, which had been neglected for many years, was reorganized and gained its current appearance with its declaration as a nature park. Today, Irmak Nature Park is quieter than the more crowded areas of Belgrade Forest and has become a preferred spot for visitors who want to be alone with nature.
