Story

Homeros Valley is a vast natural living and recreation area located in the higher parts of Bornova, right next to İzmir's rapidly urbanizing fabric. The valley takes its name from the region where caves believed to have been inhabited by the legendary poet Homer, whom we previously mentioned in our list, are located. Thanks to its natural structure, the small stream flowing through it and giving life to Bornova (one of the branches of Bornova Stream), and its dense vegetation, it has become one of the closest 'breathing points' to İzmir's city center. Developed by İzmir Metropolitan Municipality with an extensive recreation project, the valley is a popular area, especially on weekends, where İzmir residents meet with nature. Throughout the valley, walking and running tracks, bicycle paths, picnic tables, sports areas, and children's playgrounds have been arranged. The ecological structure of the valley is enriched with various tree species, shrubs, and seasonal flowers. Especially in spring, when the stream overflows and nature comes alive, the valley is at its most beautiful. Small historical structures within the valley, such as aqueducts and old mill ruins, also add a historical depth to the area's natural beauty. Homeros Valley is ideal for those who want to escape the city center's noise, play sports, or simply relax intertwined with nature. This area, where the legendary past of the caves merges with modern recreation facilities, is a successful example of İzmir's natural riches and efforts to preserve them. It serves as an important ecological and social meeting point for both locals and visitors.
