Description

A modern life park, transformed from the old zoo with a contemporary ecological approach, offering spacious and natural habitats in accordance with European standards.

Story

Izmir Natural Life Park is one of the greatest indicators of Izmir's commitment to modern urbanism and ecology. It was established in 2008 by relocating the classical zoo from the old fairground (Kültürpark) to a vast area near Çiğli, close to the Gediz Delta, in line with animal rights and modern park management principles. The park adopts a concept where animals are housed in spacious, open habitats, in conditions as close as possible to their natural living environments, instead of enclosed cages. The park is spread over a gigantic area of approximately 425 acres and hosts hundreds of different animal species. Regions representing various geographies such as African savannas, Asian forests, bird sanctuaries, and wetlands have been created. The primary goal of the park is the conservation of species, the development of natural life awareness, and ensuring the welfare of animals. Furthermore, it maintains ecological integrity with the nearby Izmir Bird Paradise (Gediz Delta), where flamingos can also be observed. With its easily accessible location from the city center, Izmir Natural Life Park is an important recreational area where residents of Izmir and tourists can experience nature. With its modern design, environmental planning, and the natural environment it provides for animals, it is considered one of the best life parks in Turkey. This park is a living testament to Izmir's commitment not only to historical heritage but also to contemporary ecological responsibility.
